So, we talk a lot about being generous people, but it's okay to talk about it but a little different to do (especially if there's nothing in it for ourselves - right?). Well, I just got to tell you that I love belonging to a church that doesn't just talk about being generous but does it way and above and beyond. So, someone in our family at MCC was in need. I chatted with her and prayed with her and told her that the Lord will provide and sure enough He did!!!!! In an amazing way!!! Through the generosity of some other people in our family at MCC. I said to Hannah, when I heard the final story of the need being met, 'I want to belong to a church like that!', to which she said 'you do!'. And we do! We are part of a church that God continues to be generous with and as a result the people are hearing God's word and responding to it with generosity. A church like that cannot be anything but infectious. It breeds a level of generosity that cannot be outstripped! A level of generosity that is infectious and contagious and it does nothing but bring honour and glory to His name. Continue to be generous in all you do, honouring and glorifying God for what He has done and continues to do in our town of Bury. Be blessed! |

Just in case you didn't know, every fortnight on a Wednesday night we run a life group at the travellers site in Bury. So far we've had around 3 meetings together and one of them was last night. Just wanted to tell you what a blessing and encouragement they are to me. I turned up at the site last night with around 14 young people all crammed into a caravan (boiling hot is not the word), waiting for me to arrive. They had all brought a Bible, whether that be their own or they had begged, borrowed or stolen them from friends and family for the night. We had a great time sharing together what it means for God to love them. The thought process of God loving us is often overlooked and something we often take for granted. When we looked in Scripture to find that God delights in us I had to explain what it means to delight in something as the only concept of delight was turkish delight or angel delight (which they'd never tasted). It was great to share with them that God not only loves them but He likes them, He takes joy in them, He smiles over them and you! This God that we serve not only loves us, but likes us!!!!! Sure we do stuff wrong but He still delights in us. When the Bible tells us in Zephaniah 3 that 'He will quiet you with His love' it's the imagery of a mother settling and comforting the upset child. To the point where the child can stop crying and lie in peace in safety and security of the mothers arms. Isn't that just like our God!!! That whatever we face or go through He is longing to calm our fears, settle our hearts and minds and give us peace and comfort. Whatver you face today or tomorrow may you run into His arms who is ever willing to embrace you until you are comforted and at peace. |

As we start this New Year I felt very pressed upon me to share with you what it really means to be made new. And so, through the next 10 weeks at Metro Christian Centre we will be sharing that with you on Sunday mornings as we realistically launch into another year. We already have seen great chages here at the centre and we will continue to do so. We have launched two new significant programmes for the beginning of the year. 'Revive' which is every 2nd Saturday in the month for stressed out mum's who just need that time out to relax. It runs at the same time as our dads R us programme which means the children can be brought to the centre with the dads whilst the mums make their way to the Premier Inn in Bury in the lounge area where they have kindly offered to host us. Revive starts at 9.45am and finishes around 11.00am although mums can come and go as they please. We have also started our mens breakfasts which are in the last Saturday of each month. This month we are at the Metro Cafe on Manchester Road, Bury from 9.00am The cost is £5 per person and includes a full breakfast and tea and coffee. we aim to be through by 11.00am. In addition we are now in St John and St Marks School providing assemblies and lessons and Emily and myself have been booked in to do a whole weeks outreach in the school in June of this year. Also Peter and Emily are finally in Bury College and we look forward to them serving the staff and the students there with the good news of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful that I belong to such a great church and I want to thank you all who do all sorts of amazing things in our town to honour and glorify God, some things are known and some are not but I am convinced that God is rewarding us openly. Evrey blessing to you all. |
